Thank you so much for this article. It’s just what I’ve wanted to see since I left Twitter when Musk took over. I missed it at first but adapted by joining Substack and Bluesky. I intend to write to our Congressional representatives, with a link to your Substack. It has really upset me that it is so widely used by our government when it so clearly has become a bullhorn for white supremacy, hate and cruelty. Thank you!!!
I also left the platform based on this article, as an individual. I understand that’s not what the article advocates but it is still compelling for individual decision-making nonetheless. And perhaps if enough individuals feel that way it will unintentionally constitute something more collective.
I thought this was the start of it! Down to organize any electeds I know off the platform, or join in on efforts. Working on some other projects right now otherwise I'd throw down on this, probably have a little free time to help if you know anyone organizing it :)
Physically ill at the thought people are still using that platform at all. Had no idea. Let’s boycott anyone still on it, not just the platform. who remains unclear on the moment we are in?
Let’s be honest, the number one reason if you ask people why they stay on X – porn. It’s something that nobody wants to fess up about, but it is a huge driving force towards secretive stickiness to the app.

Good argument Waleed. Just deleted mine.
Haha. Well I argued that privatized acts of withdrawal are not as powerful as something collective and driven by groups, institutions, etc.

Wow, thanks for this!
Sharing widely...
I left X. Many emails still come from progressive groups that still have share buttons only for FB & X. We need alternatives presented to replace X.
This is the article I needed. Should be shared widely. Thank you!!
This article is so accurate! We must use any and every means to stop (or at least limit) the propaganda machine of the far right!
